Classes / Workshops
Julia is experienced in teaching dance to all ages, levels and abilities. The kinds of classes she teaches range from Ballet and Contemporary, to creative and improvisation classes.
As a freelance dance teacher, she offers both community and professional dance classes and workshops.
Please contact her for more details should you wish to arrange a booking.
Below are two examples of some of the classes / workshops she currently offers.
Julia's class is release-based, and involves moving in and out of the floor. The class explores the connections and movement possibilities of the body as whole, and how to move in a more efficient way; through spirals and the use of weight and suspension.
The class sometimes ends with led improvisation; using the use of imagery and the engagement of the senses as a source to inspire and explore new ways of moving and responding.
Mind to Move workshop:
As a part of The Box project, Julia also runs community movement workshops that are specifically for people with experience of mental health issues, and from the ages of 18 - 65. These workshops involve discussion, relaxation exercises, and led improvisation. The aim is for participants to experience the benefits that movement and creative expression can have on their mental health. No dance experience is necessary.
The workshops are currently held during performance periods of The Box, and end with an excerpt sharing of the work.
