Saturday 14th October, 7:30pm - 10:30pm Flourish House, Glasgow The Box has been invited to be performed at '5 Ways To Begin' an event hosted by Ema Jayne Park and as part of The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. There are two events; one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow. The Box work in-progress will be shown at the Glasgow event. There will be a 10 minute sharing and excerpt of the work in-progress followed by discussion. This event will involve 5 sharings of work in-progress by 5 different artists, and an opportunity to discuss the works. What are we going to do about it? ​ Following from a previous research and development period, Julia James-Griffiths will be continuing to develop her new work The Box alongside four dancers. FREE: Mind To Move workshop Friday 13th & 20th October

Friday 13th October, 10 - 11:30am Friday 20th October, 5 - 6:30pm About: Scottish Choreographer Julia James-Griffiths is in the process of creating a new work, titled The Box, which explores the impact depression can have on an individual and how our society responds to it. As part of this project, and the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, she is holding two FREE workshops titled Mind to Move that are specifically for those with experience of mental health issues, no dance experience necessary. ​ Each workshop will involve discussion and led movement improvisation, with a focus in exploring and enjoying the benefits of exercise and creative expression. FREE: Professional Company Class with Julia James-Griffiths - Tuesday 10th October

Tuesday 10th October, 10 - 11:30am Studio 4, Dance Base About: ​ This class involves moving in and out of the floor, and explores the connections and movement possibilities of the body as whole through spirals and use of weight and suspension. Towards the end of the class there will also be a led improvisation using the use of imagery and the engagement of the senses as a source to inspire and explore new ways of moving and responding.
