About:
For a second year, Scottish choreographer Julia James-Griffiths will be hosting movement workshops, titled Mind To Move, as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival and The Box project. The workshops are for anyone with experience of mental health issues, no dance experience is necessary.
Each workshop will involve discussion and led movement improvisation, with a focus in exploring and enjoying the benefits of exercise and creative expression. Participants are encouraged to take part in whatever way they feel comfortable. The workshop will end with a short excerpt sharing of The Box and an opportunity for participants to give feedback.
The Box is a contemporary dance theatre piece that explores the impact depression can have on an individual and how our society responds to it. The work will be premiering as part of the festival at Assembly Roxy on the 24th of May. For more information about The Box please click here
